Champion Club
Once again the hard work of our participants and family members has produced an incredible year for the club and I wish to thank everyone for their continued support. Heartfelt thanks go out to every person in a committee role this year, including the new faces in this group, and in particular, the executive members who provided invaluable support to me during 2010.
I wish to acknowledge the hard work of our dedicated coaches whose guidance has helped further develop the potential of our participants. This was evident in Deanne becoming the overall champion club and winner of the 2010 CACTI Championship Shield. All teams achieved personal bests at the Championship Team competition: Tinies, Subbies and Seniors were aggregate winners; Intermediates were runner-up and Juniors, runner-up in Division 2. This success continued at Ballarat competitions where our Subbies and Intermediates were runners-up, while Junior and Senior teams gained several places. Congratulations to all our participants because without your efforts at competitions we would not have been as successful in the 2010 competition year. Our Birrigai training camp was a very busy, productive weekend, many thanks to all involved for making it a success. Michelle Urquhardt came to mentor in September, assisting the coaches and reviewing work performed by the girls. We are looking at the possibility of inviting two senior coaches/adjudicators to mentor our teams in 2011, preferably early in the year.
There are several people within our club who work away quietly and often are not publicly acknowledged, one of whom is Marilyn James who undertakes the production of our concert program. What a beautiful concert book she again created this year. Thank you very much for the time taken to produce this. Also to Colin and the members of the ‘Road Crew’ who assist with the production and transport of our props. To the delegates who undertake various positions on CACTI committees, thank you for your time and the feedback that you provide. I would also like to thank Colin Wilkinson and Claire James for the organisation of our many BBQ’s this year that have helped families with fundraising for their Ballarat trip and club fees. Thank you to all the parents who assisted. These events were a great success. Congratulations to the numerous girls who have completed or undertaken coaches training this year. See the Skills Page for full details. A final and very big thank you to our team managers: Karen Taunton, Danielle Ryan, Bec Box, Sandra Fisher, Lois and Barry Ransom and Karen Hawke. This group has kept our families informed about club news, helped keep our finances on track and been supportive of our coaches and coaching teams. I am confident that you will all agree with me that we have had a most outstanding year and that we look forward to the challenges and competitions in 2011.

Head Coach Report
Wow what a year! It was wonderful to see Deanne regain the CACTI club champion shield in 2010, a fantastic achievement for the whole club. Deanne had an outstanding year where tinies, subbies and seniors won both cacti comps, inters won 1 comp and were runners up in the champ comp, 4 teams (and their families) travelled to Ballarat competitions where Inters gained runners up in division 3 and subbies were runners up in Division 1! This kind of success can not be achieved without commitment and support from many people and of course we must start with our coaches.
Coaches, thank you for your dedication, enthusiasm, creativity, expertise and persistence - your skills are the foundation of both our development and success. To think when you break it down you only have about 10 hours of class time per item to coach, detail and present the finished product makes it all the more remarkable.
Thank you to our wonderful girls and parents, without each individual's continued commitment to the task and their team-mates we cannot perform to our full potential. Keeping in mind that although performance and results are a very visible measure of success, it’s also the little steps along the way such as improved confidence, flexibility, co-ordination, memory and social skills that make the difference to our girls on a personal level.
Special thanks must go to the support crew for each team; our team managers, wardrobe managers and props department. Like our coaches, these individuals contribute many, many hours in addition to weekly classes to ensure everyone is well informed, beautifully presented and well looked after. Please make the effort to consider their valuable input and support to your children this year and let them know you do appreciate it. Speaking of support, particularly in the costume and props department, some of these dedicated people have seemed a little lonely this year. Trust me, if you can use a pair of scissors and sew a button you can help produce the wonderful costumes on stage today and the stalwart of our road crew, COLIN, could surely do with some assistance. Remember many hands make light work, plus not only will you have pride in your daughters’ achievements, but they will love having you involved and will be very proud of your efforts. I know you're all looking forward to a well earned break now except of course the committee, (thank you to you too. Your support is invaluable to our entire club) and the coaches who will be starting their preparations for next year very soon. I look forward to seeing you all around for an even better and brighter 2011. The fun, fitness and friendships gained in calisthenics truly makes it the sport for everyone.

Tinies
The Tinies have had a very successful year. With only six girls we set out from beginning to end to do the best we can with limited numbers. Yet again we proved it doesn’t matter how many girls you have but how hard you try. We have both been extremely proud of the Tinies this year and have enjoyed teaching them new skills and watching them grow.
A huge thank you needs to go out to Karen our manager. It is going to be hard to replace you next year Karen although I am sure as always you will be there to help. Ashlea, Jessica and Verity have also been there this year to help out. Your coaching skills are definitely improving and we look forward to working with you in the future. There wasn’t too much costuming to be done although when there was, Jannine was always there working on new ideas so a big thank you needs to go to Jannine as well.
Every one of the Tinies always arrived at class with a huge smile which makes our job ten times easier. Thank you to all the parents for making this year such a breeze for us. Your girls have certainly worked hard this year and it all paid off in the end. We look forward to seeing you all next year in both Tinies and Subbies.

Subbies
This year has been extremely busy and successful for the Subbies. The girls worked hard at class and learnt the importance of home practice. They were continuously challenged and as a result improved their skills greatly. They are all truly little stars and I thank them for their determination and persistence throughout the year. The team was fortunate to be able to celebrate lots of great achievements this year. In the CACTI Mid Year Competition and Championship Competition the team received 1st place in every item and a variety of other high places. The real challenge was Ballarat where the girls continued to be determined to achieve their best which resulted in Runners Up in Division One. Another outstanding achievement! Thankyou to Danielle for her tremendous job of managing and supporting myself and the rest of the coaching team. To Debbie, Heather, Jody and Marj who all sewed beautiful costumes for the Subbies even though they didn’t even have a child in this team. A huge thanks to Colin for designing, creating and transporting all our props.
Lastly thanks to all of my assistants, Caity, Taylor, Keely, Beth and Sophie. You have all demonstrated that you will make fantastic coaches in the future. Our teams would not have got where they did without your help and dedication. I hope you all continue to enjoy many of Calisthenics

Juniors
This year has seen the Junior team improve their skills, grow individually and as a team. The girls did very well at the championship competition, gaining several places, they came runners up in the closed division.
The girls had an exciting time at the Ballarat competition also gaining several places.
A big thank you goes out to Sandra, Bec and Kim for keeping the team on track and making sure all information was relayed efficiently via email, text and printed notes for the team. Kim was especially helpful in making all arrangements for the Junior’s trip to Ballarat so smooth and pain free.
Another big thank you to Marjory for making new costumes for the girls and amending old costumes plus many hours of sequining. Thanks also to Melissa Riches for making beautiful head gear for the team. Thank you also to those parents who assisted with sequining costumes and to
the girls who helped with props.
Amy, Kyra, Tabitha and Kate all did a great job to get the Junior team to the standard they got to. It was a good year with the girls supporting each other both during training and at the competitions. I hope all the girls had a good time and are proud of their achievements

Intermediates
The Deanne Inters have had a very successful year. With a team of 24 our hands were definitely full but we were ready for the challenge. The girls gave wonderful performances each and every competition resulting with them being Aggregate runners up in both Canberra and Ballarat. The girls have forged new friendships and delighted in celebrating one another’s achievements, they really have worked together as a team. Just a few quick thankyou’s – Firstly to Claire and Caitlin, thank you for all of your assistance and hard work this year. Also to our team managers Barry and Lois, your support and kindness this year has been wonderful. To our Wardrobe ladies Heather, Rosie and Ruth, the girls looked spectacular this year, and to the team of sequniners that also helped out, in particular Marj W and Lynette. To Colin, you have out done yourself once again with props, they all looked amazing, thanks for transporting them to and from class and Ballarat.
Thanks to the parents and grandparents for getting your girls to class, and to the parents that came to competitions both in Canberra and Ballarat. I would also like to thank our Ballarat chaperones Rosie, Tracee, Julia and Ursula. And special mention to Kim for assisting us with planning Ballarat. And finally to the 24 Inters, thankyou for your hard work this year. You should be very proud of your achievements , all of your efforts have paid off, so congratulations!! I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas break and all the best for 2011.

Seniors
Wow - what an awesome and exciting time the Deanne Seniors have had this year, both on and off stage. As well as their consistently excellent performances in comps, the girls’ attitudes, both backstage and in the theatre, were always positive and filled with excitement. And what fun we had on our picnics, tours, dinners and movie nights with almost full attendance, despite busy work/study schedules. We’re sure that lifelong friendships have been formed! We had a blast coaching you all every week and hope that you found it rewarding as well. A HUGE thank you must go out to Karen, our wonderful team manager. This year would not have been possible without you!! Also, thanks to Raelee for our costumes. Even though you were laid low a lot with injuries, you were still at class and happy to help out in any way you could. Thanks to those that pitched in in Raelee’s absence - Sue, Mary, Jody and Rhiannon, and all the other mums/girls that assisted with sequin-ning. And thanks to Colin too for your help with props this year. Despite no daughter in the team, you were still happy to help out. Thank you to Shannon A and Karen for assisting with lighting, and Kim for your help with organising Ballarat. And a massive thanks to our FANS - your kind words and loud cheers did not go unnoticed. We really appreciated you giving up your time to come and support us! We hope that everyone has a lovely holiday break and remember –
GO BANANAS!!!

Master Class 2010
The Deanne Masters started a couple of months ago after a few mums expressed interest in learning Calisthenics. The class has proven popular with a total of 13 mums - and accompanying daughters! I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching these classes and sharing in the laughter, team effort and family bonding that resulted. Thanks to Brydie for filling in at such short notice, and thanks to Jenny, Charlotte and all the other girls involved in the Masters process. Well done ladies – you rock!
