2009....... Where Did It Go

Presidents Report
Once again the outstanding efforts of our participants and family members has produced an incredible year for Deanne and I wish to thank everyone for their continued support. This has been particularly evident with the members of the club who have undertaken committee roles during the year, several of whom wore multiple hats.  Particular thanks go to the members of the Executive who provided invaluable support to me during this year of my presidency.
I would like to acknowledge the hard work of our dedicated coaches whose guidance has helped further develop the potential of our participants.  This was evident in the club being runner-up at the CACTI Championship Team competition, being the aggregate winners of the Tinies and Subbies and runner-up for Juniors.  This success continued at the Ballarat competitions where our Subbies won their division and our Junior and Intermediate teams gaining third place.  Our Seniors also gained several places in their competition.  Well done girls. Congratulations to all our participants because without your efforts at competitions we would not have been as successful in the 2009 competition year.
Claire James, our Junior head coach, was presented with the Langdon Family award this year.  This award acknowledges the hard work of a young coach with less than 10 years coaching experience who has shown dedication to her team/club, good sportsmanship, demonstrates improvement in her participants and demonstrates good organisational, interpersonal and planning skills.  Congratulations Claire this award is well deserved.
We were again fortunate to have maintained sponsorship from the Southern Cross Club to assist with our running costs.  This has been invaluable to us in assisting with our hall hire costs – these continue to increase each year.
There a several people within our club who work away quietly and often are not publicly acknowledged, one of whom is Marilyn James who undertakes the production of our concert program.  What a beautiful concert book she created this year.  Thank you very much for the time taken to produce this.  Also to Colin and the members of the ‘Road Crew’ who assist with the production and transport of our props.
Sincere thanks also to Danielle and Peter for organising our many BBQ’s that have helped families with fundraising for their Ballarat trip and club fees.  A thank you to all the parents who assisted at these as they were a great success for us this year.
Thank you for the opportunity of being president of the club in 2009 and I hope everyone is looking forward to a successful 2010 calisthenics year.  I hope that you have an enjoyable Christmas and a well deserved break.

TINIES

This year has been yet another great year for Deanne Tinies. It has however definitely had its ups and downs. Firstly starting out with only a handful of girls, then going on to lose girls, before finding out we could only have one team. Although, everything pulled together when the year finally took off.
The Deanne Tinies placed extremely well in all competitions. In no way would this of been made possible though without the help of our excellent manager Karen, our class assistance Ashlea, Charlotte, Eddie, Jess and Verity, Naomi my mentor, all the level ones that attended each class and Marjory our costume manager. A huge thank you to everyone who helped out.
Every one of the girls constantly demonstrated an enthusiasm to learn. They have worked extremely hard this year and this most defiantly showed when it came to showing off their work in front of the judge.
Thank you to all the parents. You were all a great bunch of parents and without you all this year would not have run as smoothly as it did. I have had a ball coaching the tinies this year and hopefully the girls have enjoyed the skills they have gained out of it. I’m sure I’ll be seeing you all back next year.

SUB-JUNIORS

The Super Subbies have had another fun and successful year. The girls have enjoyed mastering new  skills, making  new  friends and learning what it means to work as a team. The highlight of our year was our  exciting  Ballarat   trip, where  the  girls performed  beaut-ifully  on  the  lovely South Street stage and enjoyed a team Trip to Sovereign Hill.

We'd like to thank  Danielle, our Super  Manager, Raelee  and  Marj for our stunning costumes, Colin for his magnificent props and all our other supportive parents, without whom our successes  would not have been possible.  Congratulations girls on  your  wonderful achievements this year, we're very proud of each and every one of you!

      Shannon A,  Loris,

Kristie, Tabby, Keely, Beth and Amy.

JUNIORS

The Deanne Juniors have had a great year this year. They were the ACT Junior Aggregate Runners-up, and were one of only 3 teams to place consistently in all items at Ballarat, resulting in third place in the Division 3 section, quite an accomplishment.
A huge thank you to Barb for all her help and support this year. I know the role of manager is a big task, and you have done a fantastic job. Danielle, thank you for all your hard work and effort this year, I know it must have been difficult with little Ellie, but I appreciate everything you have done. To Kyra and Jenny, thank you for your help as well, you have done an awesome job.
A big thank you to Raelee and Marjory for our costumes, Melissa and Jody for our head pieces and to Peter and Colin for our props.  Thank you to Karen, Kim, Louise and Sandra for chaperoning our Ballarat trip (who knew Charades could be such fun!) Thank you to Danielle R for lending us your house for sleepovers and thank you to those parents that helped with sequinning. Thanks to Nicole for the wonderful job you did helping us with our March and Clubs and to all of the other coaches that came in to look at the girls- special thankyou to Mel for standing in for Danielle while she was away. Also to all of the parents, thank you for getting your daughter to class each week, to competitions and various extra events.
And finally to my 21 girls, you have been an absolute pleasure to coach, I am proud of each and everyone one of you. Despite a few broken bones, you girls have really pulled together and worked well as a team. I hope you all have a nice Christmas break, and I hope to see you all again next year.

INTERMEDIATES

Wow, what a year!  This year a very lively bunch of Amy B, Amy T, Ashlea,  Beth, Charli, Heather, Jenni, Jenny, Jess,
Keely, Kelsey, Siobhan, Taylor & Verity welcomed Kate C and some familiar faces returning – Eddie & Katie B to be a part
of the Deanne inters in 2009.  Unfortunately, our elation at having 17 girls was short lived when
Heather moved away
during the year but we hope she will return to Deanne and the fantastic sport of calisthenics sometime soon. Obviously
mastering calisthenics requires persistence, dedication and hard work (which was not always high on the agenda for
these lovely ladies) but they did pull together as a great team improving
steadily from each comp to the next and their
efforts were rewarded with fantastic performances in Ballarat, where they gained several places & 3rd place overall in
Division 3.  Calisthenics is a team sport and that team extends well beyond the gorgeous girls that appear on the stage.
Special thanks must go to; Barry & Lois Ransom -
our wonderful managers, Heather Anstee – wardrobe mistress
extraordinaire (& her trusty sidekick Lex for pitching in with glittering & headpieces, and Colin (& Heather)
Wilkinson for co-ordinating, creating & transporting our magnificent stage props.  Each of these roles requires a great deal
of time & effort and there’s no doubt our
team would not have made it to the stage without them. Our inters are also blessed
by a wonderful group of parents that pitched in wherever necessary to sequin, help with props, co-ordinate Ballarat travel,
BBQ, comp duty, fill committee positions, run girls around etc etc etc.  We realise that inters need a lot of support and

encouragement and thank you for you interest in the team & dedication to your daughters’ sport as well. Thank you to
the other coaches that came in to our classes, provided comp & video feedback & the very necessary moral support
for our coaches; Claire, Shan, Bernadette & Carmen – your enthusiasm, encouragement & expertise
are greatly
appreciated and valued.  It’s wonderful to have such talented people on hand! Finally, huge congratulations to
Caity, Caitlin & Amy for both surviving their first year of coaching inters and creating such innovative and
entertaining routines.  Most people could not imagine the amount of time required preparing, teaching &
detailing
calisthenics routines (with the time spent out of class far exceeding actual lesson time) – your dedication &
determination certainly came to fruition at the end of the year and you should be very proud of yourselves.
I wish you all the best with your future in coaching & also congratulate Amy & Caitlin J for undertaking your

level 1 training this year. Enjoy your holidays & keep stretching (sorry girls had to put that one in - just a little
bit every now & again to keep your flex up).  See you next year!

Jody

SENIORS

Seniors for 2009! Wow what a year! We would never have known how this year was going to end up when it started but
we are very proud of all the girls in Seniors for a great effort and accomplishing a lot! We may not have ended up winning
an aggregate at the Comps but we certainly were successful and achieved great things. This year we had a big mix of
seniors coming together to form a well blended team! There were very new girls with not a lot of experience, Inters
coming up, old girls coming back, very experienced and capable girls, and a mix of others keeping the senior team
alive to start anew in 2009. With our first year as a Coaching Team, we knew we would need to try hard to get the
girls to trust and get to know us, as well as us getting to know them as individuals and getting them to work as a
team. What a great bunch of girls we had! I think that all the girls worked really hard all year together to get to know
each other and help each other throughout the year to better the team and make it a really enjoyable year! I hope that
the girls learnt a lot this year as we did and had as much fun as we did too.

We would like to thank Dianne van Limbeek for being our Team Manager, Raelee Barrett our Wardrobe Manager for
all those trial and error leotards we tried to re-hash and succeeded in the end, our costumes were great!. Thanks to
Colin and Heather for thier great efforts with our signs / props and support! Marjory Smith for her great all round
support during the year. Jody Taylor and Claire James for all your massive awesome help, guidance and support you
gave throughout the year. The Deanne Club has a lot of people  always  there as great support ready to  help out
whenever needed.   And last but not least, thanks to the Seniors, you have been a pleasure to coach and should be
very proud of yourselves.
